Key in your reply from MicroChip, is the line that they are currently fulfilling
orders placed in the last two years. I found two of the international suppliers,
expecting deliveries next month. But of small quantities. So you need to
identify one (or more) of these and place an order with them now. Their
orders are almost certainly much larger, but the quantities they list will
be the 'as yet unallocated' ones.
The explanations are a bit 'strange', but it is a worldwide phenomenon. |

Ironically I switched to PICs when the great Motorola MC68HC11 'shortage' appeared (mid 80s...). Unless I was ordering 10,000 pcs, they didn't want to talk to me...Microchip fitted me up with LOTS of REAL databooks, samples, programmer, support and was assured that even though NOT second sourced, getting chips will never be a problem...
If only my crystal ball had not been built with 'fuzzy' logic, I'd bought a LOT of PICs....... |

Mine (fortunately), was working well a couple of years ago. However the
worrying thing is that there is no sign of the shortages ending soon, and
I can see things getting even worse over the next few months. |
