yeesh Ben, this is frustrating for me...have you ANY hair left ??
Maybe toss the boards outside at noon today, supposed to be 40*C !!!
Wish I could offer a 'rabbit out of my hat' but can't think of anything as to WHY the 'odd' behaviour.... |

So, add BROWNOUT, and see if it makes any difference.
The point is that the erratum says the chip must have BROWNOUT enabled,
but doesn't say what happens if it isn't.... |

Ok, that would be very strange but I will add it. I know at the moment that if a brownout occurs, when the PIC boots, it checks the restart code and pops me a message on a console so when a brownout does occur, then it will indicate that the reboot was due to a brownout.
So now the question is BROWNOUT part of the problem even though I do get the "brownout" CPU restart code? |

OK, dumb questions, looking for a rabbit for you...
Are all the PCBs from the same batch ? IE NO revisions, NO new traces, bad etches.
Does the pin actually work as an output normally ? correct voltages ?
Any other 'peripheral' magically attached to it by 'default' ? |

Yep, same PCB batch, I haven't tested the pin as an output yet but given it doesn't cause me too much grief other than the fact I don't understand what is going-on, I found a way through the code to bypass this problem.
Thanks.
